A longtime PE teacher and coach of many sports (including his favorite: Cross Country) at Canyon High School in Anaheim, California, Don Pycior and his wife Kathy moved to their dream home in Pismo Beach when they retired in 1998.
Don wanted to give back to the sport that had given him so much, and quickly became involved in the Central Coast running community. He was a strong supporter of City to the Sea, volunteering at the race alongside Kathy since 2002. They also gave their time at Cuesta College cross country and track meets. For many years, Don and Kathy were the couple who gave away the “Top 100” mugs at the City to the Sea finish line.
Don Pycior passed away in November of 2012 at the age of 73. We want to take this opportunity to thank Don and Kathy for their years of service to City to the Sea and for bringing their endlessly upbeat, cheerful personalities to the Central Coast running community. City to the Sea is a better race, the Central Coast is a better community, and we are all better people because of their presence.
