Race Route Change for 2015: The City to the Sea Half-Marathon Course Will Be Even MORE Scenic!

Posted on by

It’s hard to believe, but the stunningly beautiful City to the Sea half-marathon course will be even MORE scenic in 2015. We’ll be re-routing part of the course through the Bob Jones trail, with the same fantastic ending near the beautiful Pacific in Pismo Beach. Same great start in downtown San Luis Obispo (America’s Happiest City), and same great scenic backroads. We’ll be uploading the new course map on our website soon! Follow us on Facebook, and we’ll let you know when it’s live.

Featured Sponsor: Running Warehouse

If you’ve ever purchased running shoes or apparel online, chances are, Running Warehouse was a top hit on your search engine when you entered in “buy running shoes online.” We’re so fortunate to have this amazing company headquartered in San Luis Obispo. They have an actual “warehouse,” too, for those of us who like to go in and try on our shoes in person and browse apparel. In fact, their store is staffed by running experts, and if you need to try out shoes, they’ll put you on the treadmill and do a full gait analysis. Plus, their store (and online store!) is stocked with every accessory you could possibly need for running, and they carry all of the major brands, as well as smaller independent brands. Make sure you visit their store at 181 Suburban Rd # 150, in San Luis Obispo next time you’re in town.

Cuesta College Conference Championships Coming Up!

Many of you know that the City to the Sea race supports the hard-working, super talented track and field teams at Cuesta College. The team will be competing at the Conference Championships in mid-April this year, and we have high hopes for some spectacular finishes. Already this year, standout distance star, Connor Fisher, hailing from Stockdale High School in the Central Valley, has run a Cuesta school record (that has stood since 1982!) and set a California State leading time in the 5K in a very impressive 14:29.  On the women’s side, Augusta Thomason, a Rancho Bernardo (#3 in the State in high school) pole vaulting phenomenon leads the JC state rankings in a stellar 12’ pole vault.  Local Atascadero product Robby Hixson (a SLO County track champion) has run 1:53.23 in the 800, leading the rankings charge in Southern California.
