Racing Etiquette

Help us put on the best event possible while helping yourself and others enjoy the day! Please always be respectful of other runners, volunteers and race organizers. Remember, we’re all here to have fun!

Pre-Race Etiquette

  • Pin your bib number on the FRONT of your shirt so we can see it. Tie the computer chip onto your shoe.
  • Give yourself plenty of time to use the restrooms in the morning and be courteous with others in line.

Parking in San Luis Obispo

Three parking structures and metered street parking are available in downtown San Luis Obispo. This parking is free of charge until 1pm on Sundays. Metered parking and parking garage fees go into effect after 1pm!

Drop Bag

City to the Sea is a point-to-point course. That’s why we provide a drop bag transportation service to make sure you have any personal items you might need at the finish line. Common items include a change of clothes and/or shoes and important personal effects. Please keep your drop bag to “school backpack” size and make sure it’s securely closed and labeled with your name.

Finding Your Friends

The start and finish at City to the Sea can be pretty exciting and hectic! It may be a little crowded and you probably won’t have your phone on you if you’re running the race. This can make it pretty tough to find your friends. We recommend establishing a pre-determined meeting spot.

EMT Services

In order to make City to the Sea as safe as possible for all of our runners, walkers and spectators, we will have precautionary EMT services on the course.
