Jani Johnson – Race Director
Jani and daughter, Chelsea, will be co-directing this year’s race. Jani is the former race director of City to the Sea (2002 – 2011). In 2015, she retired from her position as Division Chair/full time faculty at Cuesta College, but is still teaching part time in Kinesiology, and assistant coaching this spring with the track and field team. Jani is a long time runner and fitness enthusiast, and was one of the original women athletes to receive a track and field/cross country scholarship at Cal Poly.
Chelsea Hardee – Race Director
Chelsea will be joining the City to the Sea staff this year. Chelsea is an Atascadero native now living in Austin, Texas. Chelsea was a 2x NCAA champion and record holder in the pole vault while at UCLA. She went on to win a silver medal at the 2009 World Championships. Chelsea is the Director of Development for The Flatwater Foundation as well as works as an event director/producer for clients such as Nike, Gatorade and B Strong Ride.
Michelle Zulim-Clark – Aid Station Coordinator and Volunteer Director
Michelle graduated from Cal Poly SLO with a B.S and M.S in Kinesiology. After graduating, she began working as an instructor at Cuesta College in the Kinesiology, Health Sciences and Athletics department. Michelle is an avid runner who regularly competes in local road races and half marathons.
Dave Pomfret – 5k Coordinator and Finish Line Event Manager
Dave has been the Assistant Track and Field Coach at Cuesta College since 2002 where he coaches the jumps, throws, and multi-event athletes. After finishing his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology at Cal Poly SLO, Dave co-founded Equilibrium Fitness, Inc.
Erin Tracht – Lead Operations Assistant
Erin Tracht is an alumni of Cuesta College and has been in the area for 15 years. She has a Bachelors in Kinesiology from Cal Poly Slo and is soon to be working on a Masters in the same area. She works as the lead operations assistant for City to the Sea. She has taught PE at the elementary and high school level and is currently at home raising her two small children. In her spare time she hits the road daily to train for competitive half and full marathons.
Peter Ayer – Design and Web Development
Pete and his talented team at Moshpit Digital have rebranded the race and all of it’s components. He loves aesthetically pleasing design environments, and hopes City to the Sea will benefit from the new design features.
